James is an engineering leader experienced in the delivery of consumer and enterprise products with a current focus on IoT devices across several industries. He is adept at leading teams of electrical/mechanical/firmware engineers and program managers from product conception through product launch.


He has extensive knowledge of Agile HW development, digital and analog design, RF and SI simulation, product certification and homologation, several ECAD packages including Altium Designer, test automation, and benchtop verification using VNA’s, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, battery and low power test analyzers, etc.

Credentials

James holds both a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a Masters of Science in Technology Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Industry Experience

For more than 20 years, James has worked on diverse and complex engineering projects. From leading the effort to deliver Beam Benefits’s next generation of connected electric devices as the Head of Hardware to working as an architect in the investigation, design and development of existing and emerging connectivity technologies as the Lead Hardware Engineer at Lexmark, James’ experience spans across a wide range of industries.

Extracurriculars

James loves playing sports – especially with his family. When he’s not busy with kid’s activities like ballet, soccer, and basketball, he tries to find time to play golf. He’s even found a way to blend his two loves (family and golf) with the formation of the Farthing Foursome golf squad, playing rounds and making memories with his three little ones.
