End-to-end IoT development company Very was named 2022 “Smart Manufacturing Solution of the Year” during the sixth annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program.

This prestigious program recognizes standout IoT companies and products. It’s the third consecutive year Very has received acknowledgment for its groundbreaking work. The company was named “IoT Partner Enablement Company of the Year” in 2020 and 2021.

Very partners with forward-thinking organizations across industries to deliver game-changing IoT products in record time. One of its most notable collaborations involved building an anomaly detection system for SUN Automation Group – a global leader in providing corrugated box plants with a solution for feeding, printing, and converting.

The corrugated manufacturing industry is undergoing rapid change. As long-standing operators and maintenance workers retire or migrate to other industries, they take their deep-rooted knowledge of the factory’s machinery with them. Companies need a way to understand and reliably predict machine health in a scalable, sustainable way – now and in the future.

SUN also identified the need for its products to support new features, including data telemetry, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance.

A new platform called Helios was the cutting-edge solution. It minimizes downtown, maximizes profitability, and decreases the opportunity cost associated with only taking machines offline for preventative maintenance.

The solution includes an edge computer that gathers relevant data to send to a cloud back end which includes services for machine learning, databases for application data and long-term storage, and a web application with a responsible user interface where users can consume information regarding their corrugated converting equipment.

Very is thankful for this award from IoT Breakthrough. Partnerships are a central part of the Very model. Developing Helios and building an IIoT platform for SUN demonstrates Very’s commitment to delivering breakthrough digital transformation.

The mission of the IoT Breakthrough Awards program involves recognizing the innovators, leaders, and visionaries around the globe in several IoT categories, including:

  • Industrial and Enterprise IoT
  • Smart City Technology
  • Connected Home and Home Automation
  • Connected Car

This year’s program attracted more than 3,850 nominations from companies across the globe.

As the capability to make industrial machines more intelligent improves, there are now more reasons than ever to invest in machine learning technology that will future-proof equipment.
