Do you work with early-stage startups?

When does consulting make more sense than a sprint?

Consulting is the right fit when the problem isn't fully defined yet — when you need a trusted technical voice to help shape direction before committing to a build. It's also valuable for ongoing strategic support: reviewing vendor decisions, steering an internal team, or staying in the loop without running a formal engagement. If you know what you need to build, a sprint is usually faster. If you're still figuring that out, consulting is where to start.

How does team augmentation work in practice?

We place a Very designer or engineer inside your existing workflow — joining your standups, working in your tools, reporting to your lead. It's not a managed service or an agency relationship. Our person is part of your team for the duration. Most augmentation engagements start with a defined scope (a specific feature, a release, a design system) and extend naturally from there. Minimum four weeks; most run three to six months.

What does a long-term Product Partnership look like?

A Product Partnership is an ongoing relationship — not a retainer, not a series of disconnected projects. Very embeds as your design and engineering partner across whatever your product needs next: a new sprint, a major build phase, a platform redesign. Scope evolves with the product, and so does the team. We retain context between engagements, so you never pay to re-explain your product to a new firm. Some clients have been in a Product Partnership with Very for several years.

What if our needs change mid-engagement?

That's expected, and it's built into how we work. If your priorities shift significantly — not just a scope tweak but a fundamental change in what you need — we'll pause, re-align, and document a new path forward together. If you're mid-sprint and realize you need a longer-term partner rather than a single deliverable, we can restructure into a Product Partnership. If you're in a consulting engagement and the problem gets clear enough to warrant a sprint, we scope it. The engagement model is meant to flex with your product, not lock you in.
