IOT PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT
Own your IoT pipeline — from device to dashboard.
A working device-to-cloud platform in your own AWS or Azure account. Your data, your code, your roadmap, and platform cost that follows your cloud bill instead of your device count.
Custom-scoped engagement
WHAT YOU WALK AWAY WITH
A platform you own, not a platform you rent.
Every engagement ends the same way: working infrastructure in your cloud account, the code that built it in your repositories, and a clear picture of what it costs to run at your fleet size.
A platform in your account
Connectivity firmware on the device, provisioning, ingest, storage, APIs, and interfaces — deployed into your own AWS or Azure account and running against real hardware. Not a proof of concept. The thing your product runs on.
One team on both sides of the radio
The hard part of an IoT platform is the seam between the device and the cloud: provisioning at the factory, credentials that rotate, connections that recover on a bad cell link. Very has built both sides for more than a decade, so those decisions get made once instead of twice.
A cost curve you can plan against
A documented model of what the platform costs to operate at your current fleet size and at ten times that, so finance and engineering are working from the same number.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
The same four things, every engagement.
What changes between a single-device pilot and a fleet cutover is depth and coverage — not what you receive.
A running device-to-cloud platform
Connectivity firmware on the device, factory provisioning and credential lifecycle, and connection management that survives a weak link — through ingest, storage, APIs, and interfaces running in your cloud account against real hardware.
Infrastructure and firmware as code
Cloud resources defined in Terraform, CDK, or Bicep; the connectivity firmware in your repositories; both wired into CI/CD, including the pipeline that signs and ships an over-the-air update.
Architecture and cost model
Documented architecture decisions, the tradeoffs behind each one, and an operating cost model at your fleet size and at 10x — including where the curve bends and what to do about it.
A scale roadmap
What to build next, what changes as the fleet grows, and where the platform will need attention — sequenced so your team can execute it, with or without us.
Cost that follows your cloud bill, not your device count
Managed platforms charge per device, per message, or both, and often resell the cellular data on top. Run on AWS or Azure directly and platform cost tracks compute, storage, and transfer — three lines that fall as the providers compete. For most products the crossover arrives in the low thousands of devices, and the gap widens every month after that.
A platform that does what your product needs
A managed platform decides which radios you can use and what your product is allowed to do with them. Owning the pipeline makes that a product decision: the radio you want, the data model your process needs, direct integration with the systems you already run, and new capability on your own release schedule.
Your account, your code, your data
Device credentials, telemetry history, firmware source, and the cloud account belong to you. Telemetry lands where your analytics team can reach it, on standard protocols with no proprietary SDK on the device. When your roadmap changes or a buyer runs diligence on you, the platform goes with you.
What ownership gets you.
Six outcomes that follow directly from owning the platform instead of renting one.
| Outcome | What it means |
|---|---|
| Lower lifetime cost | Per-device fees end. Platform spend follows consumption, and falls per device as the fleet grows. |
| Data ownership | Full telemetry access for analytics, product insight, and your own compliance posture. |
| Technical flexibility | New features, radios, and integrations without a vendor in the path. |
| Faster iteration | Capability ships on your release schedule instead of the platform's. |
| A de-risked future | No exposure to platform sunsets, repricing, or a supported-hardware list. |
| Scalable architecture | Infrastructure built for the next device type, not only the one you ship today. |
Every fleet is different.
Scope depends on how many device types you have, which radios they use, how much data they produce, and what has to move off wherever it lives today. Some engagements are a greenfield platform for a product that hasn't shipped. Others are a staged cutover for a fleet already in the field, or a multi-phase program running alongside hardware design, certification, and manufacturing. Tell us what you're running and we'll shape the engagement around it.
